Alum Stone - Antibacterial Block
Alum Stone - Antibacterial Block
Alum Stone - Antibacterial Block. Alum stone is a mineral product made from potassium alum, renowned for its antiseptic and astringent attributes. The antiseptic properties provide defence against harmful microorganisms, while its astringent qualities help diminish inflammation and control bleeding.
Typically used after shaving, the alum block offers skin soothing benefits, prevents bacterial growth, and minimises minor bleeding from cuts and nicks by constricting the blood vessels (No more sticking pieces of tissue paper on cuts). It also serves as a preventative measure against common shaving irritations like razor burn and ingrown hairs. Here's how to use this magic product:
- After you’ve completed your shave, rinse the area with cold water.
- Wet your alum block with cold water.
- Run the wet alum block gently over the skin. You may feel a tingling, stinging, or burning sensation, especially if you have cuts or razor burn from a dull blade. This means the Alum is doing its job.
- Allow the alum residue to sit on your skin for 15 to 20 seconds. This allows the crystals to tighten the pores and cleanse the skin.
- Rinse the residue off with cold water. Cold water helps to close the skin's pores.
- Apply a moisturising cream or Aftershave.
- After using the alum block, dry the block fully with a dry towel before you store it.
NB: To extend the lifespan of the stone, make sure to dry it properly. It's a crystal composition, moisture will cause it to dissolve and disintegrate faster and reduce the lifespan.
